The lucrative eight-day major features 64 of the world's top stars battling it out for £625,000 in prize money in the snooker hotbed of China.

In terms of ranking points and prize money, the tournament is on par with the UK Championship, and was thus referred to as the "first overseas major" when it began 12 months ago.

Under the new flat draw format, all main tour professionals were required to win just one qualifying round game at the Barnsley Metrodome earlier this month in order to seal their spot in the main event.

Judd Trump heads to Chengdu as the reigning champion, as he aims to replicate the blistering form that carried him to his third career ranking title 12 months ago.

The young sensation, though, faces a wealth of high calibre opposition all eyeing glory, none more so than reigning World Champion Ronnie O'Sullivan.

O'Sullivan will make his debut in the event as he prepares to launch an assault on his first major ranking event since the World Championship at the Crucible in May.

The Juddernaut and The Rocket are joined by the likes of world number one Neil Robertson, multiple major champion Mark Selby, four-time World Champion John Higgins and in-form local hero Ding Junhui in a star-studded field.

Legends Jimmy White and Steve Davis also feature, alongside an array of emerging talents - all hoping to make their mark this week.

All matches up to, and including, the Quarter-Finals are to be played over the best of 11 frames, Semi-Finals best of 17 and the final best of 19 frames.

The tournament runs from October 27 to November 3 at the Chengdu Eastern Music Park in Chengdu, China.
