Young sensation Trump began only his second ever Masters campaign with a 6-3 win over Stuart Bingham, firing in two century breaks en route to a routine victory.
The newly crowned UK champion took the opening frame, before Basildon ace Bingham turned the tables to take a 2-1 lead.
Trump made it all square at 2-2 with a 107 break going into the interval, before the duo traded frames to make the scoreline 3-3.
The 22-year-old Bristolian fired in the highest break of the match with a superb 115 to re-take the lead and went on to seal the victory by taking the next two frames.
The win sets up a tie against rival Ronnie O'Sullivan in the last eight, a re-run of their second round meeting at the UK Championship in December, a game which Trump won en route to taking the title.
O'Sullivan became the first player through yesterday after beating defending champion Ding Junhui 6-4, closing out the match with a sensational 125 break.
The Rocket has been slashed to 10/3 favourite to win the tournament, but faces a difficult task against snooker's hottest property Trump, who is the 4/1 second favourite with William Hill.
