Both players are former winners of the event and will be eyeing glory again this time around as they face off for the right to play Ding Junhui in Sunday's final.

O'Sullivan is also out to make it back-to-back TV ranking titles, following on from his win at the German Masters a fortnight ago.

The Rocket has recaptured his best form and a new-found mental approach that has seen him win eight straight matches in the last two ranking events.

He has beaten Marco Fu, Mark Williams and Judd Trump en route to this stage and is favourite to make the final once again.

World number one Mark Selby has gone under the radar slightly this week but is always in contention at the business end of major tournaments.

He has already picked up numerous titles this season including the Shanghai Masters and Wuxi Classic and will have his eyes set on glory this weekend.

The duo have met 13 times in major competition over the past decade, with O'Sullivan taking eight victories to the Jester's five.

Three-time world champion O'Sullivan will be out for revenge after his 9-8 defeat to Selby in the final of the 2008 event.

The bookmakers make Ronnie the 8/15 favourite to progress, with Selby offering value at 6/4 with Bet365.

There latest encounter promises to be another classic when it gets underway at 7pm. It will be streamed live over the best of 11 frames from the Newport Centre, Wales.
