Neil Robertson takes on Shaun Murphy for the right to be crowned 2012 Masters champion at Ally Pally today.

Both players have tasted success at the Crucible, but are yet to have held aloft the prestigious Masters trophy.

They will do battle over two sessions today, with both relishing the chance to become the first winner of the event at its new venue - the Alexandra Palace.

Australian Robertson has recaptured his best form this week, beating Mark Allen and Mark Williams, before dumping out Judd Trump to reach the final.

His trademark long potting and emotion on the baize have made him a formidable opponent and the bookmakers make him 8/11 favourite to win the title.

Murphy has finally banished his poor record at the Masters by reaching the final with impressive wins over Martin Gould, Mark Selby and John Higgins.

The Magician has demonstrated his clinical break-building ability by compiling numerous century breaks in this tournament.
 
He will be hoping to follow up his win at the Brazil Masters in September by collecting the famous trophy this evening.

The duo notably met in the 2010 UK Championship Quarter-Final, with Murphy taking a 9-7 victory on that occasion.
