Twenty-two year-old sensation Trump won through a world class field to become UK Champion in December and is among the favourites to challenge for the Masters title this week.
He faces resurgent Basildon cueist Stuart Bingham, who picked up the Australian Open ranking title earlier in the season.
Both players are arguably at the peak of their game and are likely to produce a highly entertaining encounter in the afternoon.
The winner will face Ronnie O'Sullivan in the next round, with the romantics eyeing a rematch between Trump and The Rocket after their most recent meeting in York.
The evening match sees 2005 world champion Shaun Murphy take on resident Londoner Martin Gould at 7pm.
Murphy has struggled for consistency on the tour this season but will be eyeing a run in snooker's most prestigious ranking event.
Harrow star Gould will be making his debut at this year's event, having broken into the world's top 16 for the first time in his career.
The bookmakers favour seeds Trump and Murphy, but a fairly short format could hand the underdogs a lifeline.
The action begins at 12.30pm, with both matches being streamed live over the best of eleven frames from the Alexandra Palace, London.
