Judd Trump won an exciting UK Championship final against Mark Allen, with the Bristol potter cut by sponsors Betfred after his victory
The 2012 World Snooker Championship promises to be something special next April, with Judd Trump demonstrating in the past week that he will once again be a major contender at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
Trump claimed his first UK Championship title after beating Mark Allen in Sunday’s final, with the northern Irishman showing tremendous mental resolve to push his opponent all the way.
Even so, it means that Judd Trump is now among the favourites to win the World Championship, with sponsor
Betfred offering a best price 8/1 that the 22-year-old goes one better than the 2011 tournament when he narrowly lost out in the final to John Higgins.
Higgins remains slight favourite to claim yet another title, with
Paddy Power offering odds of 7/1 about the Scot, with Mark Selby on offer at 8/1 with sponsors Betfred and Ronnie O’Sullivan on offer at 9/1 with Sportingbet.
Meanwhile, Mark Allen might have a few takers at 22/1 considering that he produced some excellent snooker in York, especially when battling back from behind to beat Ricky Walden in the semi-final.
