The 22-year-old Bristolian cruised into a 4-0 lead at the mid-session interval and despite a mini revival from The Rocket, closed out a 6-2 victory for a place in Saturday's Semi-Finals.

The meeting was the second between the two in the space of a month following Trump's 6-5 victory over O'Sullivan at the same stage during the UK Champion in York.

The duo were greeted with a roof-raising reception at a packed Ally Pally and it was Trump who drew fist blood, winning a tense opening frame.

The Ace In The Pack doubled his advantage soon after, before pouncing on another mistake from his opponent to establish a 3-0 lead.

The one-way traffic continued going into the break as Trump fired in a superb 140 clearance for a dream 4-0 lead.

An impressive pot from out of the jaws helped O'Sullivan get his first frame on the board to make it 4-1 immeadiately after the break, but it was Trump who extended his lead in the sixth, winning through a fascinating safety battle to go 5-1 in front.

The Rocket showed glimses of his best form and his best moment of the match came in the seventh frame, as he produced a magnificent 141 break, exceeded Trump's 140 by a single point to stand as the highest break of the tournament so far.

Three-time world champion O'Sullivan looked to be in control in the next, but let position slip allowing Trump to step in and overcome a 54 point defecit to seal frame and match.

The young star will now face either Mark Williams or Neil Robertson for a place in the Masters final. He has now been installed as the new 7/4 favourite to win the prestigious title on Sunday.
